Who would be a property developer? Not me - one failed attempt five years ago to get planning permission for an industrial development on the land East of Langstone Technology Park, a council chamber packed with concerned residents, councillors and the Council officers. We hold our hands up, the development was not right for the area, we had not listened and consequently the application failed to gain approval.
Fast forward five years and we are back in the planning process with a very different and much more considered proposal; and will attend our Developer Consultation Forum on February 21st. In its simplest form the planning process means:
• Consult with the residents
• Listen to the town planners
• Request a developer consultation forum (DCF)
• Submit planning application
This time around, we have listened, we have some of the answers; and we are working with the various parties involved to produce a complete set.
We want to bring a budget hotel and family restaurant to Havant both of which were identified as being needed in the area, in ‘The South Hampshire Hotels Futures report 2010’, which was prepared for the Partnership for Urban South Hampshire (PUSH) and additional 2006 & 2008 studies by PUSH. Please see web link in ‘related items’ below.
The hotel is a logical extension to Langstone Technology Park and will provide bedrooms to support the ‘Hayling / Portsmouth’ tourist and business economy. The design is sympathetic to the residential nature of Langstone with the Lang Brook providing a terrace for the ground floor hotel rooms. Will it make an impact? Undoubtedly, change always does. But we are confident that the impact will be positive.
Take a look at the plans and artists impression of how the development will look when it’s completed (at the top of the article to view, or attached below in ‘downloads’) and by all means let us know what you think:
