Fasset recently hosted an ‘Interview Skills Workshop’ event at Langstone Technology Park, in partnership with the local Education Business Partnership (EBP), Havant Skills & Employability Partnership; and Business in the Community (BITC).

It was a fantastic opportunity for everyone involved.

The event gave a group of Yr. 9 (aged 13-14) students from nearby Havant Academy the opportunity to understand the value of having a great CV and interview technique – skills vital to them for future employment or higher education possibilities.

As the main organiser, Fasset recruited eight experienced ‘Recruitment Facilitators’ to run mock interviews and workshops. They all willingly gave up their time and imparted their knowledge; all understanding the value of managing talent for the future of our local economy:

• Portsmouth Water
• Meggitt Avionics
• McMurdos
• Bouygues UK
• Andrew & Andrew Solicitors
• Serocor
• Morsons
• Fasset

It was a packed programme.

The students worked in small groups to identify their skills and personal attributes in order to help develop their personal profile for their CV. They also did some exercises to gain a better understanding of what to expect at a job interview and some hints and tips to impress on the day.

I was particularly impressed with the level of enthusiasm in all the students. What was particularly rewarding was handing out a number of awards and prizes for “best performing interviewees” and “most improved students on the day”.

A really big THANK YOU to everyone who supported this event; including the students who were a credit to their school.

I hope that they went back to school and told their classmates what a great experience they had so we can do it again next year!
