Fasset's Stephen Brownlie named Achiever of the Year by regional daily newspaper
A Fasset employee has scooped an award in a regional business awards ceremony hosted by BBC South Today presenter Sally Taylor and attended by nearly 550 people at Portsmouth’s Guildhall.
Stephen Brownlie, centre manager at Portsmouth Technopole, was named Achiever of the Year last night (Thursday, January 28th) in The News’ annual Business Excellence Awards.
He was singled out by judges for transforming the fortunes of the landmark hub for start-ups within just eight months of his appointment, with occupancy nearly doubling from less than 45%.
Fasset was awarded a contract last April by the building’s owner, PTL, to breathe new life into the building, which now has 150 people working for 42 registered businesses, with a further 21 virtual office tenants.
Stephen said afterwards: “I’m thrilled, and shocked, to have won this award, but credit should also go to my three colleagues at the Technopole for their sterling help in creating a thriving business hub – receptionists Sarah Neal and Davina Desborough and customer service assistant Sophie Cresswell.”
Fasset’s joint managing director (business development), Chris Alllington, said: “Stephen thoroughly deserves this award – what has been achieved at the Technopole, in the teeth of the worst recession in living memory, has been phenomenal and underscores Fasset’s reputation for facilitating economic regeneration on behalf of investors and corporate landlords.”
The Achiever of the Year category was sponsored by regional legal firm Blake Lapthorn. Runner up was Cath Longhurst, of the Education Business Partnership, while Jennie Brent of the Beneficial Foundation was highly commended.
Sally Taylor said: “There are so many good businesses in Portsmouth and south Hampshire, and it's brilliant to come here and actually celebrate that.”
The News has been holding the business excellence awards for eight years and is a major highlight of the regional business community’s calendar.
