Music students were invited to perform a range of styles, including electrifying riffs from rock guitar legend Jimi Hendrix, during lunchtime at the Park Restaurant at Langstone Technology Park, where 3,100 employees work for 17 companies.

The thriving business hub already has close ties with the college going back years – students’ artwork is showcased all over the 43-acre site.

Park spokesman Gary Medlow said: “The talented musical performance in the run up to Christmas was an extension of our collaborative work with the college’s art department, bringing more of the arts to this leading business hub.

“The event, in the run up to Christmas, was well received and it is something we will consider doing again.”

Paul Jones, the college’s covering music lecturer, pictured far left at the back, said: “The students gained a lot from being here, and their respective solo contributions counted towards their on-going course work.

“They also got a feel for the vibrancy and energy at the business park, which is on Havant’s doorstep and is a huge local employer.”

Companies at LTP include electronics group Hitachi, recruitment company Jobsite, which sponsors Portsmouth FC, telecoms giant AT&T and world-class speciality grower Wight Salads Group.
